Traveling!
As an educator, speaker, and photographer, I find myself traveling quite a bit. Being disabled only makes traveling that much harder. Luckily, I’ve found so many products designed for wheelchair users to make traveling as easy and enjoyable as possible. In this post, I will be sharing my top favorite Amazon finds that have made my travels so much smoother and more comfortable. These products have been game-changers for me, and I'm sure they'll be useful for you too. So sit tight and let's dive into the world of wheelchair accessibility and travel!
I learned quickly that good wheelchair gloves are a must have to protect your hands. Two of my favorites are the Zerofire Workout Gloves and the Kango Fitness Leather Wheelchair Gloves. They both have comfortable padding and excellent grip, so my hands don’t get as tired as easily.
The Kemimoto Wheelchair Cupholder attaches to my wheelchair, and it has been a life-saver! I don't have to worry about holding my drinks anymore when I am out and about, and instead, I can focus on enjoying my outing. The cup holder is incredibly easy to attach and fits securely to my chair without wobbling or tipping over. I also love the drawstring that can adjust to the cup or bottle’s size, or close it up completely when I’m not using it.
Next up is my Tile Tracker, a must have for ADHD brains like mine. It’s a a small, Bluetooth-enabled device that you can attach to things that you don't want to lose, like keys, backpacks, or laptops. It works by connecting to an app on your phone, which allows you to track the location of your item on a map. I like to keep one in my wallet at all times, and I slip one into my luggage when I travel. It's a relief to know always exactly where my important stuff is.
My NDakter Bike Lock came in handy when I was traveling longterm and I wasn't able to bring my wheelchair inside my apartment. The code is easy to set up, its braided steel wire is super durable, and it comes in a bunch of cute colors.
I was so excited when I learned about Meacolia Travel Pill Organizers. I've never found one that was big enough to store all my pills, so I always have to bring a giant tote bag. They each have eight compartments, six small compartments and two larger compartments, and come in a three-pack. Going from that giant bag to three of these was seriously life changing.
The Polentat Travel Bottle set is fantastic for all my toiletry needs. I don't have to worry about how much to bring because it's the exact right size for the TSA. It comes with 11 different containers, plus toothbrush covers, a funnel for filling, and a bag to carry it all in. The soft silicone also feels really nice.
